Live debut performance in Hong Kong 2012). Performed by City Chamber Orchestra of Hong Kong . Conductor: Karl Jenkins
This highly interesting work draws on Western and Oriental traditions. Requiem is a mass for the souls of the dead set to texts in both Latin and Japanese, highlighting the cyclical nature of life, death and rebirth. The work is performed by a chamber orchestra, two choirs, soprano soloist, incidental harp, percussion and shakuhachi (Japanese flute), incorporating a Western melodic style with ethnic and world music elements – the trademark of Karl Jenkins. Karl William Pamp Jenkins, CBE (born 17 February 1944) is a Welsh musician and composer.
Koncerten var til minde for ofrene for den japanske tsunami. Drengesopranen Jamie Crosbie-Chen er 11 år gammel.
