MEMRI reports that during a recent visit to his native Pakistan, Lord Nazir Ahmed, a member of the British House of Lords, announced that he was putting up a bounty of £10 million for the capture of President Barack Obama and his predecessor, President George W. Bush.

The bounty is an expression of solidarity with the Pakistan-based jihadist organization, Lashkar-e-Taiba, for aid in the capture of whose chief (Hafiz Muhammad Saeed) the United States has announced a $10 million reward. Lord (ahem) Ahmed regards the U.S. bid as “an insult to all Muslims” and a “challenge [to the] dignity of the Muslim ummah.” The peer went on to say “he would arrange the bounty at any cost even if he was left with the option of selling all his personal assets, including his house.” The ummah is the notional worldwide community of Muslims — and here you thought members of Parliament represented Britain. In Utrecht, sexy posters have been covered up and a message stuck across them. Many people are annoyed at what they see as “Muslim censorship”, others are surprised it hasn’t been done before.

In Kanaleneiland, a predominantly Muslim area of Utrecht, a poster advertising the open museum weekend has been covered by a black bag. The poster shows a woman in a short pink strapless dress. A message reading ‘La ilahe il Allah – No Sexually Tinted Advertising In Our Suburbs. Stand Up And Fight Against This Case To Protect Our Children!’ is plastered across the bag. Another poster showing a woman in a bikini in the distance walking on a beach has also been covered up. The next day the cover had been taken off, but angry reactions had already started appearing on the internet. Muslim censorship or just plain decency?
